Mine Supervisor
The Mine Supervisor is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the Whitestone mine and all related activities.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and maintain short -term mine plans within the guidance of the long term mine plan to support 1-5 year planning. Support annual reconciliation of each year's plan with mine and crusher data collection, survey control and annual plan updates.
Formulate department schedules and communicate such for implementation of operations and maintenance. Review maintenance schedules of major pieces of equipment to maximize equipment availability in a cost-effective manner while minimizing down time and un-scheduled repairs.
Monitor and manage fugitive emissions such as dust and hydrocarbons from the Mine
Ensure a constant feed of quality crushed ROM (Run of Mine) ore from the mine through the crusher.
Continuous improvement in workplace safety by promptly addressing the root causes of near misses, conducting effective safety meetings, promptly addressing safety concerns raised by employees, and leading by example.
Ensure the safety of the mine environment by maintaining compliance with Company policy and government regulations. (e.g., check for adequate ventilation, conditions of backs and rib, equipment break downs, and general observations of employees).
Operate department in compliance with MSHA, company rules and standards.
Ensure that established operating procedures are followed and that operators are properly trained.
Supervise employees to meet production for maximum efficiency.
Interact with vendors to insure cost efficient supply of parts and service
Manage special projects as instructed by Mine Manager.
Education and Experience requirements:
B.S. in Mining Engineering
5-7 years of experience in operations, mine planning
Knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics
Demonstrated ability to gather people's involvement and commitment to accomplishing tasks/objectives
Strong communication skills, including developing the intended message, supporting the message with appropriate aids, and communicating the message both in writing and verbally through various platforms, such as, personal, written, electronic, telephonic, video-conference, etc.
Demonstrated facilitation, problem solving, and decision making skills
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels within the organization
Flexible and adaptable to multiple and changing priorities
Proficient PC skills (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
Underground mining experience preferred.
